Hurricane Ike

Well ... here we are just over a week from the devastation Ike handed down to the Texas gulf coast and we are okay.  Sure, our yard has looked better and I much preferred our neighbor's tree in her yard instead of on my fence, on my roof, and in my yard but we are okay.  David has worked like a lumberjack on speed clearing away trees so that our power lines could be re-attached and yesterday that finally happened.  We can now pee in a well lit bathroom.  Of all things, that is what bothered me the most - using the bathroom by candlelight.  Weird, huh?  I mean, I use the bathroom in the dark all the time at night and that has no effect on me whatsoever but maybe it was just knowing that the choice was not mine.  I'm funny like that.  Anywho ... here are some photos of the wreckage and of my hero, David, saving the day.

This is the view from our roof looking into our back yard.  The red shed is the edge of our neighbor's yard.  Our fence is toast and the edge of our shop/carport-thingy is crushed.

David being a goof on the roof.  I like this photo because it shows you how tall the trees are in our 'hood and how lucky we actually were.

After day two of clean up - absolutely sopping with sweat and yet still able to smile.  What a guy.
