What a difference a year makes

Well ... I have come to the conclusion that I'm just not a very good blogger nor a very good "moment" mommy but I came to this conclusion in the nick of time. I was sorting through pictures and found my favorite picture of the girls taken last year at JC Penney's (the image here is in color but my print was black and white with a sepia wash) and I realized that it was taken just one year ago so I made the decision then and there to make that my "milestone" photo for the 2 girls together. I seem to have photo-documented every microsecond of Zoë's life and I have entire months with no pictures of Sadie, let alone a representative photo from each month like some of my more organized mommy friends. I immediately called Penney's to set up the appointment and tried, in vain, to find a solid black outfit for Sadie to wear. The best I could do is a black and white striped jumper with black leggings. Zoë's jumper is the same style but solid black. We show up at the mall for the appointment and had to wait forever, completely obliterating my teddy graham bribe stockpile to keep Sadie in a decent mood. Long, long story short - no pictures from JC Penney's. In fact, we were asked to leave and try again another day in a week or so. In their defense, that was after Sadie had pulled out all of their props and brought down one plastic prop shelf and had moved on to high pitch "b" horror movie type screaming. Defeated and deflated, we moved on into the mall because Zoë had money burning a hole in her pocket and an intense desire for yet another Build-a-Bear. We accomplished that and I looked upstairs and saw The Picture People and it was empty so we quickly took the elevator up and I explained the demonic nature of my youngest child and showed them the inspiration picture I was going for and they did an AWESOME job. I have to say, my past experience is sort of hit or miss with them but I was thrilled with the end results. I love love these pictures, especially the one with Sadie on her hands and knees. I was so proud for getting the picture taken and called to brag on myself to David and he just said, "why are we paying people to take pictures of the girls when you take such great pictures yourself?" Clearly he's never tried to take Sadie's picture. As it was, this photo op took 2 photographers and a "handler" and there is an adult arm holding Sadie back that has been airbrushed out. After he saw the picture though, he agreed that it was worth it.
